Studio32’s fantastic family pantomime was back at the East Kilbride Arts Centre from the 29th November to the 17th December 2017. Most of the 24 performances sold out a month before opening night! Next years Pantomime is Peter Pan – remember to book early!

Jack and his mum, Dame Dolly, live on a little farm cottage with their family cow Daisy, who is their only source of income. When the taxes are doubled, Jack’s mother tells him to take Daisy to the market and sell her. On the way, Jack meets a mysterious stranger who offers magic beans in exchange for the cow. Jack agrees to the deal and runs home to tell his mother. When he arrives home without any money, his mum goes mad, she tells him to get rid of the beans and sends Jack to bed without any supper or Netflix!

During the night, the beans grow into a gigantic beanstalk. The next morning, Jack climbs the beanstalk to a land high in the sky. He finds an enormous castle and sneaks in where he finds lots of gold and treasure. The castle’s owner, a giant, smells that Jack is nearby and speaks the rhyme:

I smell the blood of an English man:
Be he alive, or be he dead,
I’ll grind his bones to make my bread.

Jack steals the goose that lays golden eggs and before the Giant catches him, Jack climbs down the beanstalk and makes his escape!

Laugh as Dame Dolly attempts to milk Daisy the cow.  Groan when Jack is tricked into selling his beloved cow for a handful of beans.  Boo as the Giant takes everyone’s money and tries to ruin Christmas.  Cheer wildly as Jack climbs the beanstalk and saves the day!

Will Jack defeat the Giant? Can he save Daisy? Will Jack and his mum live happily ever after?
